The Dalhouse University Department of History organizes the MacKay Lecture in History each year. This year's lecturer is Dr Jeffrey Lesser, Emory University. The lecture will be held on 22 September 2011, at 7:00 p.m., room 1009 in the Rowe Building, 6100 University Avenue. A reception will follow the lecture.

Abstracts are invited for a conference entitled "Titanic 100: The Only Ship Everybody Knows." Abstracts may be up to 300 words in length for illustrated talks of 40 minutes.

The conference, hosted by Titanic 100, will take place April 7-9, 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It will feature addresses by several well-known Titanic experts including Steve Blasco from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Joe MacInnes, and others.

The Maritime History Archive at Memorial University has launched the More than a List of Crew website. By presenting some of the digitized Crew Agreements administered by the Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen this website presents family researchers and academics with a goldmine of information on merchant seafarers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
