Old Sydney Society February Lecture

The Old Sydney Society in Cape Breton hosts a monthly lecture series on historical topics. This month's offering is "Murder or Suicide? The Mysterious Death of Edie Brailsford, Dominion, 1923," presented by Matt Cook. The lecture will take place at 7:30 pm, Feb. 25, 2010 at the Cape Breton Centre for Heritage and Science, located on the ground floor of Sydney's Lyceum at 225 George St.in Sydney, NS.

February Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society Lecture

On February 17, as part of the Nova Scotia Historical Society lecture series, David Sutherland will present a talk entitled, "Halifax's Encounter with the North-West uprising of 1885." David Sutherland recently retired from the Department of History, Dalhousie University.
The lecture will be held at the Public Archives of Nova Scotia at 6016 University Avenue in Halifax, following a short business meeting that will begin at 7:30 pm.

New Journal - Call for Papers

St. Thomas University in Fredericton is seeking material for the inaugural issue of the Journal of New Brunswick Studies/Revue d’études sur le Nouveau-Brunswick. Slated for release in the fall of 2010, JNBS/RÉNB is an online, multidisciplinary journal that will feature peer-reviewed research and commentary about New Brunswick in English and French.

Historical Articles in the Nashwaak Review

The latest issue of the Nashwaak Review, spring/summer 2009, volume 22-23, contains seven historical, peer-reviewed articles, one of which can be viewed online.

January Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society Lecture

Peter Coffman is a Killam Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of History at Dalhousie University.
